Diving into the Scion FR-S
Its always great to be a part of something new and exciting, and KÖNIG Wheels is more than excited to be one of the invited guests amongst a few other aftermarket companies by Scion for the new FR-S. We were able to send some of our team down to a measuring session to ensure that we knew what would fit on the vehicle as well as see the vehicles styling. We take vehicle styling into account anytime we are designing wheels. The Scion FR-S will share a base platform with the new Subaru BR-Z which is also going to be released soon. Both cars will be an exciting addition to the tuning segment.
What we found to be interesting was the fact that the FR-S is said to be designed with aftermarket wheels in mind according to Motor Trend’s review. Smooth front and rear fender lips appear seem to eliminate much of the need for fender rolling and allow for a flush wheel fitment. Motor Trend has also stated in their review of the FR-S that both front and rear brake calipers are nice and compact with the wheel hubs. This really allows for fantastic caliper clearance when making a decision to purchase aftermarket wheels.
Both the Scion FR-S and the Subaru BRZ appear to already have an exciting buzz about them and it looks like they will mesh well with the tuning enthusiast. Thanks to Scion for the invite and Motor Trend for the great review.

PROJECT: KIA FORTE
Guess what just landed on our desk yesterday? The February March issue of Performance Auto & Sound 100th Anniversary Special Collector’s Edition! After slowly moving passed the cover we came across a cool KIA Forte Coupe project on page 112. The project covers an HSD Coilovers install. The coupe features a fresh set of KÖNIG Backbones and worked very well with the agressive stance provided by the HSD Coilovers.
Be sure to get your copy of this issue and read about the Project KIA Forte Coupe.

Forza Motorsport 4 / Hyundai Veloster
For everyone out there who plays Forza Motorsport 4 you know it’s an awesome game with stunning graphics and superior gameplay. We here would like to agree! What’s even cooler about the game is the new partnership with Hyundai that offers you a free release DLC (Downloadable Content) of the 2013 Hyundai Veloster.
The Veloster in Forza Motorsport 4 is a perfect rendering of the 2013 Hyundai Veloster built by PM Lifestyle, which you may have seen at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you have seen the car you then certainly noticed the stealthy KÖNIG Deception wheels, blueberry paint and carbon fiber components. If you haven’t seen this Veloster, be sure to check it out at a local show nearest you as the car will be on tour with Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in 2012. If not, check out the gallery below.
The Hyundai Veloster DLC can be downloaded from the Xbox 360 Storefront: CobraTuner

SEMA News / MAT Technology & New Trends
Also in this same wheel and tire trends article, Joseph Schaefer, President of KÖNIG American and chair-elect of SEMA’s Wheel & Tire Council (WTC) explained MAT Technology. “MAT Technology, a process which was developed by Enkei Japan, involves the spinning of the wheel and the barrel is squeezed in between two dies, which increases the strength and integrity of the wheel and a reduction in the materials required.” It’s definitely worth mentioning that KÖNIG has another wheel in the MAT family, the KÖNIG Kilogram.
Schaefer also explained that directional wheels may be a trend on the horizon. New for 2012, KÖNIG debuted the Turn_One a directional styled wheel finished in Quicksilver and Mirror Machine Face and Undercut.
